Notes from class:
Speaker 1: Introduce the argument – 60seconds
- What are the main points my colleagues will discuss?
- How should I introduce them?
Over the next ten minutes or so, this house will argue that Santa Claus, to say the least, is not a responsible role-model. We will look at how his diet, his behaviour, his ideas of right and wrong, and his decision-making all create the image of a man who is reckless, dangerous, in serious ill-health, a drunk and a terrible example for young people all around the world. The house opposite will try to argue that he is a sweet, harmless bringer of joy, dedicated to enriching human experience. They are wrong. And in ten minutes, I hope you will agree with us.
Speaker 2: Develop a point – 120 seconds
- What is the point I am making?
- What evidence is there?
- Why is it a stronger argument than the opposition?
Speaker 3: Develop a point – 120 seconds
- What is the point I am making?
- What evidence is there?
- Why is it a stronger argument than the opposition?
Speaker 1: Conclude the argument – 60 seconds
