Doctor Faustus – 1.1

The scene opens with a soliloquy from the protagonist. He is debating with himself which subject to devote his genius to. One by one he dismisses the studies of philosophy, medicine and theology, finally setting his sights on necromancy.

Throughout, he borrows quotations to support his argument but omits parts which would hinder his decision-making.
