Noyes continues the use of metaphor by comparing the moon to a “ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas”. Again, he is making a water-based comparison to stress the stormy night’s sky. It is easy to visualise the bright moon moving through the clouds being blown by the violent wind.
